520			_aLa forme habituelle de confiage d’enfants, dite vidomègon, fait partie intégrante de la socialisation enfantine sud-béninoise. Depuis une quinzaine d’années, la condition des fillettes vidomègon est cependant assimilée à de la « traite d’enfants » par les principales agences internationales de protection de l’enfance. Elles sont en effet placées en ville comme domestiques ou petites vendeuses dans des familles qui bénéficient presque gratuitement de leur travail. Les interventions officielles se proposant de les protéger ne sont pas toujours bien perçues par les fillettes qui devraient en être les bénéficiaires. Ce paradoxe pose le problème de la voix et de l’écoute de l’enfant dans les interventions visant à le protéger.
520			_aThe traditional form of child fostering called vidomègon is an integral part of child socialisation in South Benin. In the past fifteen years, however, the main international child protection agencies have associated the condition of young female vidomègon to child trafficking. The children are sent as servants or petty sellers to families who benefit from their work without really having to pay for it. The children who supposedly stand to benefit from the official interventions claiming to protect them do not always see them as positive. This paradox raises the question of the voice of the children and the attention paid to it in the interventions seeking to protect them.
