RésuméCet article entend contribuer à une anthropologie de « l’habitat institutionnel » catholique, en croisant l’ethnographie d’une paroisse catholique urbaine, au Portugal, avec l’étude de deux archipels théoriques de Michel de Certeau : sa politique du croire et son anthropologie du quotidien. Notre étude vise à démontrer que le processus d’institution du croire dans la paroisse catholique, dans un contexte d’ultra-urbanisation, dépend d’une élasticité institutionnelle qui joue sur l’intervalle entre le pouvoir stratégique et les ruses de la tactique. La conceptualisation de Michel de Certeau se révèle efficace pour comprendre l’élasticité institutionnelle catholique, définie par une appropriation, dans l’action paroissiale, des qualités opérationnelles de la tactique, parmi lesquelles : le bricolage, les juxtapositions, les oscillations et l’hybridité.

This article aims to contribute to the anthropology of the Catholic « institutional habitat », combining the ethnography of an urban Catholic parish in Portugal, with the study of two theoretical archipelagos by Michel de Certeau : his politics of belief and his anthropology of everyday life. The study seeks to show that the institution process of belief in the Catholic parish, in a context of ultra-urbanisation, depends on an institutional elasticity which is emerges in the interval between strategic power and the tactical practices, including : « patchwork », juxtapositions, oscillations and hybridism.
