N2  - Loin d’être infaillibles et ayant toutes leurs limites, les sciences axées dans le domaine psychosocial n’ont de science que leurs revêtements algorithmiques pour tenter de comprendre et conjurer l’agir criminel. Ce qui, en partie, explique pourquoi tant de professionnels confrontés à un seul et même dossier tergiversent de façon tantôt nuancée, tantôt en émettant des opinions diamétralement opposées en dépit du protocole d’application et la validité de l’outil. Il sera question ici des échelles actuarielles, du jugement clinique structuré et non structuré, trois modes d’évaluation utilisés par les experts devant les tribunaux et par l’administration pénitentiaire au Canada; Far from being infallible and having all their limits, the sciences focused in the psychosocial field have no science other than their algorithmic coverings to try to conjure the criminal action. Which, in part, explains why so many professionals in one and the same file and whatever their respective field of expertise, diverge in a nuanced way, sometimes subject to sometimes diametrically opposed opinions despite the application protocol and the validity of the tool. We will therefore discuss here the use of actuarial scales, structured and unstructured clinical judgment, their strengths and their weaknesses with regard to three evaluation methods used by experts in court and by the Canadian prison administration
