The Transgender Person: an Archetype of all Instances of the “Ex”?
- 2014.

The article explores the Transgender person’s status, starting out from the hypothesis that such people provide the ultimate archetype of the “ex” for all kinds, all genders; for the Transgender individual who relinquishes the gender assigned them at birth more than for any other person, the break-up is a defining dimension of existence. This article focuses on the quest for identity building among Transgender persons based on research conducted with six people questioned mainly through semi-directive interviews, making reference to the “greatness” of Boltanski and Thévenot (1991). However, our results suggest that only a few Transgender persons want to make tabula rasa of their past, while most of them live their transition as a biographical continuum.
