The access to a feeling of being or identity for the subject in difficult cases is aided by shared dual analyst-analysand regression. A subjective appropriation of the traumatic scene that has generally already been constructed by the patient must actually be experienced by the subject in the present, that is to say, in an encounter with the person of the analyst that does not endanger the latter's function. This present ego/non-ego experience reveals a logic of identity.
