N2  - ‪This text analyses militant socialisation within youth participation schemes, which are encouraged and facilitated by leading popular education organisations. The aim is to identify—using an ethnographic survey—the categories of perception, judgment and action that circulate therein; and to show through what concrete practices and which symbolic offer, both identitarian and moral, “the cause of youth” is promoted. In doing so, the article shows the type of engagement that is shaped and exemplified through these schemes, both by popular education organisations and by public authorities. It then raises the question of the ambiguity of political socialisation processes when they occur at the frontier of the State.‪
