N1 - 79 N2 - Improper, or even dangerous, medical prescriptions can lead to loss of chance for patients, as well as direct or indirect additional costs for society as a whole. There is therefore an ethical dimension to the topic. This study is based on previous reports, including one parliamentary report and others from administrative bodies and the French National Academy of Medicine (ANM). The main objectives of student training in this area include learning how to prescribe correctly and how to master the difficulties of prescribing medications when dealing with multiple pathologies, which are increasingly common, especially among older patients. Overall, time devoted to teaching students about pharmacology and treatment can be considered satisfactory. However, there is a lack of testing with regard to these lessons and, most importantly, how well these lessons are retained at the end of the second cycle of medical studies. Moreover, certain types of software used to aid prescribing lack clarity, conciseness, and precision, making them difficult to use. The importance of local pharmacists, patient organizations, and continuous training must not be overlooked when it comes to proper medication use. This report is deliberately limited to three proposals based on the above observations: 1) Implement a specific, independent pharmacology and treatment exam during medical studies, as part of national medical exams in France (or their equivalent); 2) Ensure that expertise in these areas is kept up-to-date through continuous professional education; 3) Implement one type of clear and concise software, developed and approved by the National Professional Board (CNP), specifically designed to support prescribing UR - https://shs.cairn.info/journal-medecine-2022-1-page-42?lang=en&redirect-ssocas=7080 ER -
