Transsexual man, his wife and their child - 2016.

The author tackles the question of the access to parentality of a couple composed of a man – former woman – and his female companion in the legal frame of a biological center for reproduction. A transsexual Female to Male (FtM) is a person who has a woman body and feels having a man identity. Therefore this person asks to be sexually transferred through a hormonal-surgical transformation and a change of civil status. Then this person can enjoy all the prerogatives bound to his new sex. Thus the French law acknowledges him the possibility to marry a woman. As the couple is sterile because of the lack of spermatozoids of this man, they have the right to ask for a Medical Help to Procreation for infertility, like any other heterosexual couple. The Author tries to understand the specificity of these couples, in their love life choice as well in the course that leads them to become new parents. As couple and family therapists in a psychoanalytic perspective, it seems to us fondamental to accompany these persons desirous to start a family, since we are anxious to allow them to be fully actors of the process of transmission.
