<br/><br/> RésuméQuand est évoqué le déclin de la fonction paternelle, annoncé par Freud, l’accent est le plus souvent mis, suivant une lecture simplificatrice de Lacan, sur une défaillance de la dimension symbolique. Ici l’auteur, examinant les effets de la post-modernité sur cette position paternelle, met plutôt l’accent sur une disjonction, réalisée, des dimensions réelle, imaginaire et symbolique du père, dont le nouage était naguère assuré par le monothéisme, et évalue les effets cliniques de cette division, qui met surtout en péril la fonction du père réel d’être l’agent de la castration symbolique.  When we evoke the decline of the paternal function announced by Freud, stress is most often put on a failure of the symbolic dimension, this being along the lines of an oversimplified reading of Lacan. Here, in examining the effects of post-modernity on this paternal position, the author highlights rather a break that comes about in the real, imaginary and symbolic dimensions of the father (whose binding together was formerly ensured by monotheism) and evaluates the clinical effects of this division, that above all imperils the function of the real father as the agent of symbolic castration.
