Le Maroc est devenu un pays d’accueil et d’installation pour de nombreux migrants subsahariens. Cette reconfiguration de l’espace migratoire a conduit à l’émergence d’un secteur chrétien informel constitué d’« Églises de maison » situées dans les quartiers populaires des grandes villes. Le référentiel biblique y est omniprésent, et au travers du foisonnement des lectures et des interprétations, il s’impose comme élément structurant des parcours individuels et des interactions communautaires. Fondé sur des données ethnographiques, l’article montre comment l’habitus biblique pentecôtiste africain partagé dans ce contexte migratoire participe d’un véritable encodage de la réalité. Les virtuoses du texte empruntent à la Bible les images et les patrons narratifs pour fabriquer au jour le jour la légitimation religieuse d’un itinéraire exposé à l’imprévisible et au tragique. Cet encodage biblique, reflet de l’ingéniosité narrative des interprètes, ouvre des clés d’interprétation et libère des capacités nouvelles pour affronter les événements et situations subis.

Morocco has become a country of settlement for many sub-Saharan migrants. This reconfiguration of the migratory space has led to the emergence of an informal Christian sector made up of “house churches” located in the working-class neighbourhoods of the big cities. The biblical frame of reference is omnipresent there, and through the proliferation of readings and interpretations, it has imposed itself as a structuring element of individual trajectories and group interactions. Based on ethnographic data, the article shows how the African Pentecostal biblical habitus shared in this migratory context participates in a real encoding of reality. The virtuosos of the text take from the Bible the images and narrative patterns to fabricate on a day-to-day basis the religious legitimization of an itinerary exposed to the unpredictable and the tragic. This biblical encoding, a reflection of the narrative inventiveness of the interpreters, opens up keys to interpretation and frees up new capacities to confront the events and situations undergone.
