Cela ne dispense pas mais au contraire oblige à essayer de comprendre ce qui fait l’unité et l’originalité de son œuvre, et comment ce théoricien de l’organisation et de la construction a pu parallèlement écrire le Momus, satire violemment destructrice des dieux antiques et des pouvoirs en place.

Alberti is generally and rightly considered as « the universal man of the early Renaissance ». This should make it all the more necessary to grasp the unity and the originality of his work, and how this theorist of organization and construction has been led to write such a satire as the Momus, aiming to destroy old gods and existing powers.
