The aim of this paper is to estimate the effects of trade diplomacy on Cameroon’s bilateral trade. Drawing on a structural gravity model that uses a sample of 190 of Cameroon’s partner countries over the period 2006–2016, the results reveal that trade diplomacy in Cameroon favors bilateral exports, with a stronger effect on raw materials, and favors bilateral imports of consumer goods. Specifically, foreign missions and economic-trade days (fairs, exhibitions, and trade shows held abroad) have a positive effect on bilateral trade, while official visits of the head of state only increase bilateral imports of consumer goods and capital goods. In addition, the results suggest that bilateral agreements, WTO agreements, and the ease of obtaining a visa to enter Cameroon promote bilateral trade. JEL Codes: F13, F14, F15, F50.
