Nous traitons dans cet article du paradoxe identitaire chez Karim Sarroub. L’analyse gravite autour du statut de l’auteur et de ses personnages par rapport aux deux espaces opposant l’Identité à l’Alterité, à savoir l’Algérie, le pays d’origine et la France, le pays d’accueil. Nous essayons de montrer l’échec de l’assimilation des personnages de Sarroub qui, en contestant les valeurs qui constituent leur identité, tentent de se fondre dans l’espace de l’Autre, qui, après toutes les concessions, les rejette.

Franco-Magrebian intermixing in the work of Karim SarroubThis article deals with the identity paradox of Karim Sarroub. The analysis gravitates around the status of the author and his characters with regard to two realms opposing Identity and Otherness, that being the country of origin and France, the host country. We attempt to show how despite Sarroub’s characters willingness to assimilate, they are unable to do so. They all contest the values which make up their identity of origin in favor of those values which bring them closer to the culture of the host country, which in turn rejects them despite concessions made.

Este artículo trata de la paradoja identitaria en la obra de Karim Sarroub. El análisis gravita alrededor del estatuto del autor y de sus personajes con relación a los espacios opuestos de la Identidad y de la Alteridad, a saber Argelia, el país de origen, y Francia, el país de acogida. Tratamos de mostrar el fracaso de la asimilación de los personajes de Sarroub que, rechazando los valores que constituyen su identidad, intentan asimilarse en el espacio del Otro, que después de todas las concesiones, las rechaza.
