Trans women in rugby: A real impossibility?

Par : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2024. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The world of sport is a predominantly male universe, both in its history and in its functioning, and is based on the sexual division between men and women. However, the growing visibility of trans people in our contemporary society is upsetting this established binary sporting divide, a balance that has seen trans women experiencing both sexism and transphobia. Considered primarily in terms of their biological make-up and their testosterone levels, which are naturally higher than that of cis women, their integration remains a question that concerns sports federations. This study will take stock of the decisions made by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), World Rugby, and the Fédération Française de Rugby (FFR) (French Rugby Federation) in order to draw a comparison with the practices of Les Rebelyons Rugby Club, an inclusive rugby club, and question the “impossibility” of inclusion defended by the institutions.
