With reference to a clinical example, the author shows how psychic sexuality is attained in analysis retroactively, by following the thread of identifications. Access to the difference between the sexes was achieved, in the case of this patient, by an attraction for transsexuals, who, in the course of the psychoanalytic process, proved to be the combined object of the primal scene. The reactivation and elaboration in the transference of this crushing figure, both masculine and feminine, made it possible for the patient to free himself from it.
