Managing addiction in prison: What role can hypnosis play?

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : The health situation of prisoners appears to be more fragile than that of the general population. Several major events have led to progress in health management in prisons and, more particularly, in relation to addiction. However, the management of addictions in prison remains a taboo subject and change is difficult. Faced with these patients in need of care, what management can be envisaged? We describe the prison health context and its evolution, then the clinical difficulties that psychologists working in prison clinics face when treating users of psychoactive substances. We explain the relevance of using hypnosis to build a therapeutic relationship and to explore the body caged both by addiction and by the prison environment. Finally, we reflect on the function of substitution in hypnotic trance. We illustrate our remarks with a clinical case drawn from our experience in prisons.
