Why may social institutions warrant a freedom of action to the professionals of the helping relationship whilst protecting them from the sovereign temptation likely to occur due to the a-symmetrical positions within such a relationship? Precisely because the helping interaction places the consultant in such a power position. The protection against any abuse, beyond the ethical qualities of any professional, should be implemented through collective discussions and reviews about practices at stake. This article analyzes the value of such collective review settings, democratically thought of, where a potentially counter-productive and even destructive creativity may be transformed into a benevolent one, to the service of the helping relationship.
