‪Since the early 2020s, “wokeism” has become a topic of intellectual interventions in France in spaces associated with right-wing and conservative positions. The study of “anti-woke” op-eds, as a type of intervention, shows a relative heterogeneity of positions and argumentative registers, between academic, militant, and essayist types of contributors; it also shows common patterns in their targets, and a circulation of motives between liberal and conservative periodicals. These characteristics suggest an analysis of the publication of criticism of “wokeism” as a case of elite collective action.‪
