In Morocco and Senegal, language use testifies to a general respect for elders. But many of these elders are facing difficult socio-economic situations further complicated by gender disparities in marital status. To varying extents depending on the country concerned, the continuation of work into old age, the absence or inadequacy of pension provision, and difficulties in accessing health care can negatively impact their quality of life.
