This article performs a Jonasian reading of Dom Deschamps’s morality in order to highlight his revolutionary contribution to naturalist debate. The Benedictine criticizes the technocentric society, and its harmful effects on humans and nature, without advocating a reduction of material enjoyment. In the état de moeurs, the protection of nature, the interest of the present and future community, as well as the satisfaction of individual desires are correlated and so sustainable.
