This article describes Gestalt therapy’s newly found place in psychotherapy research, thus enabling it to be part of current discussions and debates. This research is evolving by more extensively taking into consideration the complexity of therapeutic work. It is doing so by recognizing qualitative work and more detailed studies on how therapists adapt to the characteristics of each client and their fluctuation over the course of the relationship as well. The article presents research currently being done and the pertinence of Gestalt practitioners’ input in psychotherapy research.
