This report analyses the way in which the media, as socialising agents, can participate in (re)producing or questioning social, gendered or sexual inequalities. As media practices are diverse, omnipresent and intense in the lives of both adults and the young, it is of interest to study their role in the social construction of individuals. By thinking of the media as belonging to two realities, that of the production and dissemination of content and that of its reception and use, the contributors shed light on the articulation be-tween the media, socialisation and (in)equalities from three concomitant angles. The first concerns the media production of an oriented and un-equal vision of social reality. The second questions the social and gen-dered inequalities of access to the media and the uses made of them. The third examines the effects of media socialisation on the construction of the self by showing how certain forms of resistance or contestation to the dominant norms can emerge.
