The reform of education in Quebec, announced in 1997, was due to the need for cooperation. Our research on technical support staff casts a light on the much needed construction of an educational or cooperative community alongside a rising division of labor in schools. The division of labor implies multiple representations and professional interests, pressure on roles, and social relations between school actors that threaten the full participation of all in the educational community.
