It is difficult to define the reality of the prostitution of minors in France. Statistics are lacking, partly because it is not easy to agree on what is meant by prostitution. The legal framework makes it possible to explore this definition more deeply, and it is interesting to do so. And yet it does not contain all the operations linked to the commodification of the sexualized body.Who are these adolescents? These young victims can be recognized by certain typical behaviours. In general, they bear the traces of an earlier trauma. These adolescents refuse to see themselves as victims of prostitution and use other terms such as “michetonnage” (occasional prostitution); indeed, their form of prostitution often differs from that of their elders, in particular through the use of social networks at every stage.
