When offering obstetrical care to migrant patients, particular circumstances come into play that may place the care-giving team in a difficult position. Indeed, being confronted by cultural differences is not always easy, to the extent that it is our very practices that are often put into question. The feelings of powerlessness and disapointment that we experience when our skills fail us can be hard to overcome, and mutual incompehension may give rise to anger and aggression between patient and caregiver. In this article, we will describe and make a tentative analysis of a few clinical situations of this type.
