How was the growth of Paris thought out during the last century ? What have been the orientations successively given to the spatial development of the capital ? Which models have been used to underpin this operation that was first considered in terms of expansion, then in terms of planning, and finally in terms of urban planning ? The way in which urban policy has been carried out in the Paris region between 1919 - when the first projects were set up - and 1969 - when Paul Delouvrier's mission came to an end -, has been the topic of many commentaries. In sociology, after the Second World War, it was mainly considered in a « urban marxism » perspective. Today it is re-examined in works that focus more on the actors involved.
