L’article met à l’épreuve une approche écopoétique sur un corpus de cinq écrits viatiques rédigés entre 1656 et 1683 par Chapelle et Bachaumont, La Fontaine, Claude Perrault, Dassoucy et Préchac, ces écrits étant resserrés sur le périmètre géographique de la France. Le voyage y est envisagé comme moteur d’une attention variable selon les objets extérieurs ciblés et son intensité : l’approche écopoétique mesure ces variations, tout comme la mise en œuvre d’une expérience plaçant l’individu au contact d’un environnement inhabituel. L’engagement du sujet voyageur, le recul qu’impose une écriture et les particularités d’un itinéraire sont analysés comme des opérateurs de signification.

The article applies an ecopoetic approach to a corpus of five travel writings produced between 1656 and 1683 by Chapelle and Bachaumont, La Fontaine, Claude Perrault, Dassoucy, and Préchac, all relating journeys within France. The journey is envisaged as the motor of the writer’s attention, which varies in intensity and according to the external objects observed. The ecopoetic approach measures these variations, and examines the construction of an experience that brings the individual into contact with an unusual environment. The engagement of the traveler, the distance imposed by the writing, and the particularities of each itinerary are analyzed as operators of meaning.
