Seduction Phantasy as the Female Version of the Castration Phantasy
Type de matériel :
17
From a reading of primal phantasies, we shall offer a reinterpretation of the castration anxiety of the female Oedipus. Freud linked this anxiety to the fear of losing one’s object of love. Female castration anxiety would more likely emanate from a phantasy of being seduced by one’s father, associated with the representation of the physical and psychic damages that this relationship may cause. This female castration anxiety would be reactivated during puberty because of male advances. For boys and for girls, the family romance does not only preserve the representation of the father; it also displaces the mother, which should stop being idealized when facing the other sex.
