In order to understand the evolution of claimed identities and claimed spaces in which the Commonwealth of Australia project himself, beyond the borders of his country, this article examines a few constructions and reconstructions of Australian spatiality from the britishness to Pacificness, and even an asianess, nourished by Asian geography. However, these transformations don’t hide a unique relationship to environment, between affirmation of identity in Asian and Pacific area, to tensions over the margins of Australia and adjacent otherness: Australie is in a constant “rewriting” of space to ensure security and prosperity. This article also considers the politicization of Australian geography. The discourse of elites on regional space comes before the perception of the regional affiliation of Australia, between new modes of representation and construction of regionalism.
