Partant du constat, bien documenté, du rôle important joué par les caricatures dans l’émergence d’une opinion publique, le présent article s’est attaché à saisir pourquoi tel ou tel animal avait été choisi, par tel ou tel camp et dans telle ou telle circonstance. Cet essai d’abécédaire animalier passe en revue quelques animaux-vedettes (cochon, autruche, grue, serpent, grenouille, écrevisse etc.) en les classant selon les factions qui ont produit ces images et les moments de leur circulation.
