Bowie: a Semiological Perspective on a Postmodern Iconographic Work

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2017. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Throughout this paper, we aim to present an educational project—the Bowie Project—which we implemented at the Graphic Design School Aries, in Rhône-Alpes, to introduce students in graphic design to semiotic analysis. First, we will present the teaching method that we deployed; then we will explain why we chose David Bowie’s work as a corpus of study. Finally, we will return to the students’ semiotic analyses of their own work to propose an interpretative framework of Bowie’s work by using a semiotic approach. In this research paper, we would like to demonstrate the importance of analysing the signs and deconstructing meaning in graphic design professional training.
