Episodic memory disorders constitute a frequent motive for neuropsychological consultation in many clinical settings, either in the diagnostic framework or in the care of patients with acquired brain lesions. In the absence of a reliable and accessible biomarker for Alzheimer's disease diagnosis, neuropsychological examination remains the main tool, in particular for the early stages of the disease. Sensitive memory tests allowing for assumptions to be made on the deficit and preserved memory processes are essential for neuropsychologists. The Encoding Storage Retrieval (ESR) paradigm (Eustache et al., 1998) is part of this approach. In this paper, we present the short ESR (s-ESR) test adapted from this paradigm and normative data collected in 197 French participants aged 20 to 79 years.
