This paper explores the role of social dialogue within corporate social responsibility (CSR) committees. We conducted a qualitative study based on a multiple case study methodology. Our empirical study focused on four private organizations. We conducted forty-four semi-structured interviews, a non-participant observation, and a documentary analysis. Our results underline the importance of using CSR committees to promote dialogue on responsible corporate policies. There are several reasons for this: first, they are negotiation-based forums that help broaden organizations’ governance frameworks. Second, they play an essential role in preventing greenwashing or social washing when companies draw up their extra-financial reports, thanks to their consultative and preventive function in relation to sustainable development. Finally, our results highlight the importance of CSR committees as drivers for initiatives that foster collective action on sustainable development and social responsibility within organizations. They highlight the establishment of social dialogue processes with stakeholders. This context of partnership-based governance aims to help companies respond to different ecological, social, and societal concerns as part of their exchanges with social partners.
