The objective of this study is to evaluate the in vitro antiarthritic activity of aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts from Linum usitatissimum L. seeds, as well as to perform phytochemical screening and determine the flavonoid and flavonol content in the extracts. Phytochemical analysis of Linum usitatissimum L. seeds revealed the presence of sterols, tannins, flavonoids, phenols, and alkaloids in the aqueous and hydroalcoholic extracts. Flavonoid contents were 06.91 ± 0.38 and 04.85 ± 0.05 mg EQ/g of extract for the hydroalcoholic and aqueous extracts, respectively. Flavonol contents were 04.53 ± 0.25 mg EQ/g for the hydroalcoholic extract and 04.51 ± 0.03 mg EQ/g for the aqueous extract. The aqueous extract showed the highest protective activity against bovine serum albumin (BSA) denaturation in the BSA test, with a significant (P Linum usitatissimum L. seeds demonstrated the highest activity in the egg albumin denaturation test, with a significant IC50 value of 36.86 ± 2.72 mg/ml (P Linum usitatissimum L. seeds were found to possess in vitro protective activity against protein denaturation, which plays a role in the development of inflammatory and arthritic diseases.
