The purpose of organizations, a lever for meaning at work: Proposition of a model based on Ikigai

Par : Contributeur(s) : Type de matériel : TexteTexteLangue : français Détails de publication : 2023. Sujet(s) : Ressources en ligne : Abrégé : Over the last few years, corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been increasingly important to employees. In parallel with this, the PACTE law was adopted in France to encourage companies to step up their efforts on social and environmental issues. This law reintroduces the idea that companies’ purpose (or raison d’être) is not only to meet the interests of shareholders but also to pursue the common good. A sense of purpose or shared mission may also be critical to reinforce employees’ perception of meaning at work. In this paper, the content of more than a hundred French companies’ mission statements was analyzed. Based on the Ikigai model, a conceptual framework is then proposed around four components of meaning at work for employees.
