This paper is part of a larger project on children’s literature and emotional support for orphan children. It focuses on books for very young children. In the twenty-one books aimed at children aged three to six, published in French in the twenty-first century, the young protagonists express their doubts and questions. Children’s literature can work as a mediator, helping the orphan child to accept the absence and to live with the memory of the deceased.
