Western nations are based on cooperation between coercion and capital, thereby securing them a stranglehold on global resources in an unequal system between nations. Beyond the smokescreen of non-binding international agreements, beyond the myth of “soft trade” that legitimates the globalization of capital and Western neocolonial ascendancy, the current ecological crisis, far from questioning these workings, exacerbates their belligerent nature. More than ever, war remains modernity’s intractable horizon.
