The authors examine the question of transfer of feelings of shame within the therapeutic group. They consider the effects of transmission of shame in intersubjectivity in general and in that specific to the therapeutic bond in particular. They also raise questions as to the issues of representation of the professional group with the therapist that they consider as a counter-transferential indication, possibly of a repressed feeling of shame felt by the patient.
