RésuméLe présent article constitue l’un des aspects de la problématique traitée par une thèse soutenue en avril 2005. Il concerne la mise en œuvre, à grande échelle, d’un tutorat à distance répondant aux besoins des apprenants dans un dispositif de formation technologisé, créé dans les conditions de l’industrialisation de la formation décidée par une grande entreprise. Introduit, presque par hasard, dans le projet de formation linguistique destiné à une importante population salariée, le tutorat a été développé par l’entreprise pour augmenter la taille de la population formée. Chacune des évolutions successives du service, exposées ci-après, a été déterminée par la recherche d’un compromis acceptable entre les termes de la trilogie « coût, population, qualité ».

The following paper is a part of a thesis that has been presented in April 2005. It aims at the study of the implementation on a large scale of a distance tutoring service addressing the needs of learners in an ODL system, created under the conditions of vocational training decided by a large industrial company. Introduced, almost by chance, in a linguistic training project planned for an important population of employees, the tutoring service was developed by the company to increase the size of the trained population. Each successive step in the evolution of the service, reported here after, was determined by the search of an acceptable compromise between the terms of the trilogy “cost, population, quality”.
