À travers cet article, nous allons explorer la question du manque d’empathie et les conséquences possibles de cette condition sur la relation aux autres. Nous étudierons les origines de l’empathie dans une dialectique moi-autre et ses articulations avec la capacité réflexive. Grâce à l’analyse d’une expérience de psychologie sociale et d’un roman, nous articulerons le problème de la disparition du lien empathique à différentes formes de renoncement de la capacité de penser qui peuvent conduire à réifier l’autre et le priver de ses qualités d’autre-semblable.

In this article, we will explore the question of the lack of empathy and the possible consequences of this condition on relations with others. We will study the origins of empathy from the perspective of the Me-Other dialectic and its articulation with reflexive capacity. Thanks to the analysis of an experiment led in the field of social psychology and a novel, we will articulate the problem of the disappearance of the empathic link in terms of various forms of renunciation of the capacity to think, leading to a reification of the Other who is stripped of their quality as a fellow human being.
