Ce texte propose une revue de littérature sur le concept de genre à partir principalement des travaux théoriques de J. Money, R. Stoller et C. Chiland. Selon les auteurs, l’identité sexuée peut être pensée comme un aspect déterminant du développement narcissique et de la construction subjective. La présentation d’un cas clinique permet de soulever l’hypothèse d’une performativité de ces faits expérientiels (et leur réception en clinique médicale contemporaine) pouvant prendre la valeur d’objets de production du sujet lui-même.

A historical perspective on the concept of gender identity, rooted in the theoretical studies of J. Money, R. Stoller and C. Chiland, provides us with the means of understanding the complexity of this notion as a key factor in the development of Narcissism and construction of the subject. A clinical case illustrates the author’s hypothesis on the performativity of individual experience (and its reception by contemporary medical practice) and how this may participate in producing constructs of the subject by the subject.
