Le Yémen n’a jamais cessé d’apporter ses contributions à la construction des mythes et de l’histoire, tant dans la période préislamique que pendant l’Islam. La richesse de sa culture et la diversité de ses contacts avec le monde en font un espace de recompositions et d’inspirations, même s’il n’apparaît pas nécessairement toujours sur le devant de la scène. Les représentations historiques et mythiques du Yémen sont certainement en partie celles liées au royaume de Saba (IVe siècle avant J.-C.-IVe siècle après J.C.), s’étendant de part et d’autre de la mer Rouge.

The richness of its culture and the diversity of its connections with the world make of them a space of recombinings and inspirations, even if it does not appears inevitably always on the front scene. The historical and mythical representations of Yemen are certainly partly those related to the kingdom of Sheba (4th century BC-4th century), extending on both sides from the Red Sea.
