Summary, etc. | This article explores how material culture of schooling contributes to the representation and valorization of the teaching profession in the media. Our contribution focuses on two YouTube channels devoted to the teaching profession in primary schools, teachers’ daily life and classroom activities. First, we address the correlation between the way teachers represent objects and the rules of self-presentation on YouTube. Next, we look at the staging and storytelling of school materials: in what literal and figurative ways are objects presented? Finally, we show that by playing with representations of a common school material culture and with the ability of objects to connect and become part of the pedagogical process, YouTubers reveal what goes on behind the scenes, and bear witness to the invisible work of teachers. |

Summary, etc. | Nous explorons la manière dont la culture matérielle scolaire s’inscrit dans le processus de médiatisation et de valorisation du métier de professeur des écoles. Notre contribution prend pour objet deux chaînes YouTube consacrées au métier d’enseignant du premier degré, à la vie quotidienne du professeur et aux activités de classe. Nous abordons d’abord la corrélation qui existe entre la représentation des objets par les professeurs des écoles et les normes de la présentation de soi sur YouTube. Notre analyse porte ensuite sur les mises en scène et en récit du matériel scolaire : selon quels éclairages, au sens propre et au sens figuré, les objets sont-ils présentés ? Nous montrons enfin qu’en jouant avec les représentations d’une culture matérielle scolaire commune, avec la capacité des objets à relier et à s’inscrire dans le processus pédagogique, les youtubeuses font découvrir les coulisses du métier et témoignent du travail invisible de l’enseignant. |
