520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | The purpose of this study was to describe the construction and validation of a Self-Efficacy (SE) instrument following Bandura’s (2006) guidelines that would measure Pre-service Physical Education Teachers’ (PETE) self-efficacy towards including students with intellectual (ID), visual (VD), or physical disabilities (PD) in general physical education. Situational-specific contexts included physical fitness testing, teaching skills, and playing sports. The scale labeled The Situational-Specific Self-Efficacy Scale for Physical Education Teacher Education Majors towards Disability (SE-PETE-D) was administered to 486 pre-service physical education teachers representing five different universities in the U.S. An unified analysis of the different disability and curriculum content specific contexts was attempted. Results revealed a six factor solution with igenvalues >1 with item loadings between .412 and .808. High Chronbach alpha reliability scores were obtained for each subscale: ID (.86), PD (.90), and VD (.92). Differences in the PETE’s SE scores the different disability contexts were also noticed. The PD context revealed higher SE scores. |
