| Summary, etc. | Les sociologues contemporains ont souvent cherché à formaliser le modèle qui semble sous-tendre les analyses de Durkheim en reliant le taux de suicide à deux variables : l’intégration et la régulation. Cette interprétation a l’inconvénient d’aller dans une tout autre direction que la théorie explicitement défendue par Durkheim. Cet article montre que l’on peut aisément formaliser cette dernière en se concentrant sur la composition interne du taux de suicide, en ajoutant à l’intégration et la régulation une variable presque toujours omise, à savoir l’individuation, et en combinant ces variables au sein d’un modèle compositionnel à trois dimensions. Ce modèle permet de retrouver les principales prédictions empiriques du Suicide et remet en valeur quelques-unes des grandes innovations théoriques de Durkheim. |

| Summary, etc. | Sociologists have often tried to formalise the explanatory model that seemingly underpins Durkheim’s analysis by linking the suicide rate to two exogeneous variables, integration and regulation. Problematically, this interpretation conflicts with the theory explicitly put forward by Durkheim. In contrast, this article shows that we can easily formalise the latter if, like Durkheim, we focus on the internal composition of the suicide rate, and if we add to integration and regulation a third variable that has almost always been omitted, namely individuation, and 3) we combine these variables within a three-dimensional compositional model. This model not only recovers the main empirical predictions of Suicide, but also highlights some of Durkheim’s major theoretical insights. |

Diese Interpretation hat den Nachteil, in eine völlig andere Richtung zu gehen, als die von Durkheim explizit vertretene Theorie. Dieser Artikel zeigt, dass wir Letzteres ohne weiteres systematisieren können, indem wir uns auf die interne Zusammensetzung der Selbstmordrate konzentrieren, dadurch, dass wir zur Integration und zur Regulation eine Variable hinzufügen, die fast immer weggelassen wird, und zwar die Individuation, und indem wir diese Variablen in einem dreidimensionalen Kompositionsmodell kombinieren.
