Summary, etc. | La nécessité de satisfaire les besoins spécifiques de consommateurs issus de cultures étrangères est l’un des nouveaux défis que rencontrent les entreprises. Cet article étudie l’acculturation des consommateurs immigrés, qui proviennent d’un même pays mais appartiennent à des sous-cultures différentes. Il montre, sur la base d’une étude qualitative, que la distance culturelle entre la sous-culture d’origine et la culture d’accueil est une variable médiatrice entre la sous-culture de l’individu et la direction de l’acculturation. Les résultats obtenus complètent la conceptualisation existante de l’acculturation. Ils montrent que l’acculturation peut être obligatoire ou choisie, que le métissage des cultures constitue une direction importante de l’acculturation, et ils permettent de distinguer des modes d’acculturation plus détaillés dans les sous-cultures que ceux de la littérature. Ils ont également montré l’influence de variables modératrices psychosociales (la nostalgie et le matérialisme) sur l’acculturation et ont mis en évidence leur influence inégale en fonction de la distance culturelle qui sépare les sous-cultures de la culture d’accueil. |

Summary, etc. | The satisfaction of specific needs of migrating populations is a challenge facing companies. This article focuses on the acculturation of consumers changing their cultural environment by migrating from the same country but belonging to different subcultures. A qualitative study was conducted. It showed that the cultural distance between the subculture of origin and the host culture is a mediating variable between subcultures and acculturation modes. Study results also add to the existing acculturation literature that acculturation could be compulsory or selected. They highlight the existence of a new acculturation direction which is the mix of cultures. They show how psychosocial moderator variables might influence acculturation and how moderator variables play different roles according to the cultural distance between subcultures and host country culture. |
