Summary, etc. |
520 ## - SUMMARY, ETC. | |
Summary, etc. | This paper is a presentation of a speech theory that takes into account the materiality of artifacts, the meaningful dimension of texts and how they can be reinterpreted. It is highlighted how linguistics, conversational and speech analysis take some dimensions of social speeches into account while neglecting an essential part of them. This is a suggestion for a thorough rethinking of speech as as a self-constrained reality based on five elements: the artefacts which are produced, the communities of users who keep them alive, the recurring usage they have established, the boundaries they draw and their ability to justify their use. This analysis is based on a pragmatic theory—affordance—as opposed to a model of representation. It is reformulating the relationship between speech and reality in a way as to explain how various forms of speech and their actors adapt to different environments and interact with others’ discussions. |

Summary, etc. |
