| Summary, etc. | À partir d’une enquête de l’ethnologue Julie Delalande (2009) portant à la fois sur la pratique dans de nombreux pays de rituels liés à la perte des dents de lait et sur les croyances des élèves en France de la grande section de maternelle jusqu’en ce1, l’auteure propose d’analyser ce qui se joue entre les parents et l’enfant à travers le rituel et l’histoire de la « petite souris ». L’auteur postule que ceux-ci ont une fonction culturelle qui rend transitionnelle l’expérience d’une perte pour l’enfant et qui lui permet de vivre des éprouvés de « merveilleuse inquiétante étrangeté » alors que la perte des dents de lait pourrait lui rappeler des angoisses archaïques de morcellement, des désirs cannibaliques, des angoisses de castration. L’analyse comparative des rituels selon les pays à propos de la chute des dents de lait permet de dégager ce qu’il y a de spécifique au rituel de la « petite souri s » : la question de la sublimation de l’analité en famille contre le retour d’angoisses archaïques et de castration. |

| Summary, etc. | Starting out from a survey conducted by the ethnologist Julie Delalande (2009) on both the practice in many countries of rites relating to the loss of milk teeth and the beliefs of pupils in France in the last year of nursery school through to the first year of primary school, the author proposes to analyse what plays out between the parents and the child through the ritual and the story of the “tooth fairy” (a mouse in the French tradition). She postulates that these factors have a cultural function that makes the experience of a loss for the child transitional, enabling him or her to live out the trials of “wonderful unsettling strangeness” whereas the loss of milk teeth could provide a reminder of the archaic fears of fragmentation, of cannibalistic desires and of castration. Comparative analysis of the rites in different countries on the loss of milk teeth reveals what remains specific in the “tooth fairy” ritual: the question of sublimation of anality within the family against the return of archaic and castration-related anxieties. |
