| Summary, etc. | L’effondrement productif de l’agriculture des régions alpines depuis 1991, la forte contraction des actifs agricoles en 15 ans (-60 %), les pertes d’emplois et de revenus, engendrent des difficultés de reconversion de l’espace montagnard. L’article se propose d’examiner la situation des ménages paysans, exploitants et propriétaires en 1991, et résidants toujours dans leur ferme en 2005. L’analyse diachronique détaillée entre 1991et 2005 de leur structure familiale et de leurs revenus, en regard des stratégies d’adaptation : abandon, diversification ou intensification des activités, amène à repenser les choix effectifs en termes de contraintes objectives. Par ailleurs, les rapports entre les évolutions des stratégies dominantes des ménages paysans et les types d’espaces montagnards apportent des indications sur les potentialités réelles de reconversion des exploitants vers l’agritourisme. La faible emprise du tourisme rural permet d’établir que, s’il concourt à une ouverture culturelle des espaces ruraux et constitue une des solutions de leur reconversion fonctionnelle, il est loin de remplacer les dynamiques économiques antérieures. |

| Summary, etc. | Agritourism in the Slovenian Alps since 1991, choice or constraint for farming households ? A strong fall in agricultural production of the Alpine regions since 1991, severe regression of farming assets in the space of 15 years (- 60 %), jobs and income losses, generated problems for the restructuring of the mountain economy. The article examines the situation of smallholder households, farmers and landowners in 1991, still living on their farm in 2005. Detailed diachronic analysis of their family structure and incomes for the period between 1991 and 2005, with regard to adaptation strategies : abandonment, diversification or intensification of activities, prompts a reconsideration of the effective options in terms of objective constraints. Moreover, the relations between the changes and developments in the strategies most used by the peasant families and the types of mountain space provide pointers as to the true potential farmers have had for converting their activity for agritourism. The low hold rural tourism has taken affirms that, albeit a step towards a cultural opening-up of rural spaces and one of the solutions for their functional transformation, it is far from being an adequate substitute for the dynamics of the economy of former times. |
