| Summary, etc. | La problématique des limites de la sphère marchande est aujourd’hui centrale en sciences sociales. Ce texte interroge le fondement moral du refus de la marchandisation de certains objets. Il part de l’étude d’un type d’objet (au sens physique du terme) dont la marchandisation est aujourd’hui largement rejetée – le rein – pour dégager d’abord le fondement moral de ce rejet. Il développe ensuite un parallèle entre cette « économie morale » et celle qui s’était dressée contre la montée en puissance de l’économie de marché au moment de la révolution industrielle, pour mettre en évidence leurs similitudes. |

| Summary, etc. | The question of the limits of the realm of the market is now central in the social sciences. The article questions the moral basis for the refusal of the commodification of certain objects. It starts from the study of a type of object (in the physical sense of the term) whose commodification is today largely rejected – the kidney – in order to identify the moral grounds for this rejection. It then develops a parallel between this « moral economy » and the earlier one, that had opposed the rise of the market economy in the era of the industrial revolution, highlighting the similarities. |
